Von Küche zu Skistadl in 3 Schritten

Verschiedene Wetter Orakel predigen die Ankunft des ersten Powders, also wird es allerhöchste Zeit den kürzlich erstandenen Backup Pettitor aka. early+late Season Steine Ski mit einer Bindung auszustatten! Danke an Jan, der freundlicherweise im Tausch gegen einen Bierschuldschein eine STH14 zur Verfügung gestellt hat.
Zunächst musste ich allerdings einen Platz zum werkeln finden. Wie praktisch, dass die Dame des Hauses gerade jetzt die Reise ins Heimatland antritt, um Freunde und Familie zu besuchen. Somit konnte das 3 Steps Programm beginnen:

• Schritt 1: Freundin zum Flughafen bringen für den langersehnten Besuch in Brasilien!
• Schritt 2: Tischdecken, Platzdeckchen, Besteck - hinfort damit!
• Schritt 3: Alles mit Skiern, Bindungsteilen, Bambusholz und Werkzeug vollmüllen!

Meine erste Bindungsmontage gestaltete sich recht erfolgreich. Ich würde sagen Vorbereitung: 5 , Durchführung ne 2. Typisches "ich fahre 3 Mal in den Baumarkt statt vorher zu checken ob die passenden Utensilien alle vorhanden und funktionstüchtig sind" - Problem.

Im Grunde ist es aber kein Hexenwerk. Vor allem, wenn man eine gescheite Schablone bereits im Internet finden kann. freeskiers.net hat einen super Thread dazu im Angebot: ANLEITUNG-Bindung-in-Heimarbeit-montieren . Nun bleibt abzuwarten ob mir der Krempel bei der ersten Abfahrt um die Ohren fliegt.

Als nächstes werd ich die Produktion der "Poles With Souls" wieder aufnehmen. Der Prototyp ist leider nach 2 harten Saisons gebrochen und irreparabel. Die 2. Auflage wird dank neuer Bambusart mit mehr Stabilität und Wetterfestigkeit noch robuster ohne an Soulshredding Charme zu verlieren:

Multiple weather models are predicting the first powder to fall soon. That means it's about time to get my recently bought backup ski aka. early/late season stone shredder, an old K2 Pettitor ready to go and mount a binding. I never did it before but I always wanted to learn how to mount my own skis.

But first I needed some space to get all crafty and sh**! How convenient that the lady is about to leave the flat and the country to visit her family and friends at home in Brazil =D There is 3 simple steps to turn your kitchen to a home improvement mancave:

• Step 1: drive your girl to the airport
  
• Step 2: remove tabecloth, placemats, forks, knives and other useless inventory
• Step 3: redecorate with skis, tools, binding parts, screws
  

My first try of mounting a binding worked out quite okay. I'd grade my work with a B in execution but a D- in preparation. I ended up going to the hardware store multiple times instead of properly preparing a list of stuff I need. But alltogether it's not witchery. Especially if the allmighty interweb provides a proper drilling template. Usually you can find those on the brands' website or in skiing community boards like freeskiers.net (which is german though but I am sure there is engl. equivalents)

Next thing on the agenda is a second modell of my DIY bamboo poles. The prototype worked very well for 2 entire seasons until a mix of an creek, a 90+ kg pilot and the leverage effect ended it's life. I found myself a new sort of bamboo which is known to be more stable, with thicker walls and more weather resistant!
