ENGLISH VERSION; Actually the intense early November snowfalls should have drawn my attention to the glaciers of the alps but I still had a score to settle with Barcelone and when good friedns invite you, you dont let them wait! Since I knew upfront that my buddy will not be able to dodge the office on one of the days I decided to rent a Royal Enfield Classic 500 and explore the outskirts of the city. Technically the little Royal is a single cyl, 4 stroke kinda girl with reasonably 27,2 hp. But the focus was cleary on the "braaap" rather than the speed! Blessed with bluebird weather the first stop was the ACE CAFÉ BARCELONA which is a cute counterpart to the british original. The parking lot holds space for a lot of motorcycles and the music played was solid classic rock. I enjoyed my Cortado ( Espresso with milk) which is something like the spanish national drink to the lovely tunes of "Freebird" and planned my route. I gotta say the traffic takes some time to adjust to. There is basically two rules:
Around 8pm the horse had to be returned to the stable and my friend and I called it a day with some great tapas and cervezas. I strongly recommend a motorcycle ride inside and outside of Barcelona. It’s just the best way to explore the area, especially on a sunny November day when your friends at home are cursing the rainy weather! Unexpectedly, the Royal Enfield should not have been the only thing to be ridden that weekend. After a way too short night several parameters lined up the right way for Barcelonas only Surf Spot to present itself from its best side. My host explained that only when the wind is doing its job right there are a few waves that are surfable and that they would be only interesting for beginners and intermediates. Thank god I’m a bloody beginner and blessed with high spirits! Thank god I’m a bloody beginner and blessed with high spirits! I had never touched a surfboard before but I felt the obligation to not let that opportunity pass. After all, this page is called Ridewhatever and that means that you f****n’ ride whatever crosses your path! And that’s how two hung over guys ended up walking to the beach for my first surf lessen. I have to say I was stoked despite several nasal rinsings and feeling like having the weakest arms on the planet. The point is – as with so many things in life – you should never let opportunities like these pass. And it does not matter what you ride. A bike. A board. Old. New. It doesn’t matter. because all people who ride have that same feeling about what they do. The same enthusiasm and passion which in the end will make your day.
