ABOUT ME:

Skiers and Boarders unite!
I'm Alex. I am a Skier, a mountain lover, a motorcycle enthusiast, a friend of old cars that make loud noises and smell funny. I live and work (music industry) in Cologne, Germany and I love to contribute to the amazing german Powder Magazin as an editor from time to time.
Unfortunately this location does not come handy with my favorite things to spend my precious time. But I think distance is no excuse and it is always worth getting your ass off the couch and out into the wild! Why "RIDEWHATEVER"?
Because the year has 12 month and there is so many exiting stuff to do while you are not skiing. While talking to friends that do all kinds of sports like skating, surfing, paragliding etc. I figured that, whatever you do, pretty much all things you can ride, all activities outside that challenge and thrill you bring the same kind of stoke. And it's not essential what you ride - but that you ride at all!
"The spirit of RIDEWHATEVER is to be found in it's literal meaning." The equipment hype in general, people defining sports through material only, things like a racebike in my big city neighbourhood with tires that will never know the joy of corners in the countryside make me think. I remembered moments like being overtaken by a motorcycle with half the horsepower, ridden by a guy in leathersuit that is older than myself. Or a day in the powder cruising down an untracked run when a maybe 13 year old local kid stomped a huge backflip right in front of me but then... at the end of the valley these people stop to give you a thumbsup or highfive beacause you are just 2 likeminded people enjoying life at the fullest. You breathe the same air far away from hectic slopes and you yell the same "Whohooos" on the way down. The spirit of ridewhatever is to be found in it's literal meaning:
The stoke is the same for those who are passionate about the things they do - so get out there and ride! |
